“History suggests that once a leader becomes common butt of jokes and ridicule the end is usually nigh. If the speed of onset is any indication, Kevin Rudd must be a very worried man.”

“I take little consolation in the fact that I didn’t vote for Captain Chaos.”

A selection of readers’ views on Kevin Rudd, as aired in The Australian. Rudd was criticised for his handling of the petrol price crisis. Telling the press that you were going to use the “opportunity to apply a blowtorch to the OPEC organisation, and it’s time that happened”, was perhaps not the most delicate way to put it.
