“HOW low can the British stoop? So low that a British lawyer claims Australians cheated, by inventing and changing official scores, to ensure the Australian female modern pentathlon competitor Angie Darby qualified for a place at the Beijing Olympic Games.”

This article in which the British identity of a lawyer threatening to boot a young Australian pentathlete out of the Olympics (he argues that his client, a Greek competitor, belongs there) was highlighted brought forth a couple of responses to the Sydney Morning Herald.

“It seems all too easy for Australians to make the whole British race the target for any invective,” wrote Bob Ivey. Phil Ivey concurred:

“Your article…contains ethnic abuse that would be totally unacceptable if directed against another nationality.”
