A response from Shaun Cronin to Paul Sheehan’s criticism of Paramatta fans. David Grant, another writer to the Sydney Morning Herald, objected to his description of them as “retards”:

“At best, this derogatory metaphor reflects a petulant intellectual snobbery. At worst, it is offensive to those who are genuinel ydisabled. Racial abuse is intolerable. Intellectual villification is not the solution.”
