The secular sneerers

“So far the award for the leading sneerer goes to The Age columnist Catherine Deveny. Writing on June 18, she declared: “It’s official. The Catholic Church is fully sick. And so is George Pell.” Apparently this was some kind of joke. She depicted World Youth Day as a “week of prayer, trust exercises and rosary bead trading”. And Deveny went on to advise that, since the Pope will be celebrating Mass at Randwick racecourse, “all the Bernadettes and Gerards will be able to chill out with The Main Dude”. It is inconceivable that The Age would have run a similar article mocking Islam and slagging off all the Aishas and Muhammads.”

Gerard Henderson of the Sydney Institute criticises the anti-Catholic, anti-Christian tone of much of the media response to World Youth Day.

Besides that, she was spot on, and that is way more relevant than Islam in our society, and therefore worthy of the space.

If you had of faced the 12 years of beatings I took, at the hands of , “Brothers”, and Sisters”, you would understand.

Or was it Father Brian Walsh talking about helping the poor during his sermons, and then spending Sunday arvo running about on his boat, and NEVER showing up to visit the poor (me) at the Commission Flats. Only the Salvos had the guts to do that, and they never judged my atheism. The only good Catholic I ever met was
who else, Father Bob.

Meanwhile, back here in the States living my godless hedonistic lifestyle, (still waiting for that bolt of lightning, but it never rains in California), and I am being judged quite sufficintly by the whacko Evangelicals, of various unvaccinated dogmas, so ther is no need to villify me. Get back to Cath, me and the goat are going to do ten more laps around the Pentangle.
