“What is it about Aussie culture that deems children should leave the family home in their teens? Us from non-Anglo backgrounds find this custom not only strange but cold-blooded, lacking any emotional attachment between children and parents. It is a fallacy that they must live independently as soon as they are in their late teens, to mature as adults.”
