All we got is cheap retreads

More responses to the political upheaval in NSW from readers of the Daily Telegraph:

“I was amused by your headline: “New Premier warns: No one is safe”. You should have added – unless you are a mate of the right-wing machine and union dinosaurs who are running this state.” John Shailer, East Lindfield.

“When Paul Keating said “Banana Republic” I thought it was a silly thing to say at the time but then I did not know he had such insight into his own party.” Max Fenton, Forster.

“The more things change, the more they stay the same. This Cabinet is nothing new – all old, well-known names who no one trusts any more and who have already proven themselves incompetent.” Steve Limbrick, Hornsby Heights.

“NSW basically is a state needing a new set of tyres – but all we got with this front bench that Premier Rees picked was a rather cheap set of retreads.” Ray Smith, Sydney.

“Are Joe Tripodi and Eddie Obeid (et al) stupid, blind or arrogant? Are they all three? Can they not see the clear message being sent by the leectorate (you know, the people they were elected to serve) that we are tired of career politicians with their snouts so deep in the troughs. The apathy in the electorate has made them confident in their position.

Luckily, throughout Australia the electorate is beginning to wake up and is starting to see the politicians for what they are – a waste of space and oxygen.” Colin Warren, Mount Colah.
