“Mr Hodgman’s conduct in acting out a simulated sexual act in here was the most juvenile and disgraceful and immature and offensive thing I have seen in here Mr Speaker.”

Tasmanian Labor backbencher Brenton Best explains why he rejected Opposition Leader Will Hodgman’s apology for making a rude gesture to a rival MP.  Best put his fingers in his ears and said, “I’m not listening, I’m not listening” when Hodgman apologised. The deputy Opposition Leader Jeremy Rockcliff then said that Best was childish:

“That is immature, juvenile behaviour all designed so he can play politics and take up the House’s time today.”
