Sheep with bipolar disorder

“Global finances are being held to ransom by the herd instincts of unthinking traders driven by panic as they blunder on in conditions none of them has ever encountered before. The ups and downs have nothing to do with the real world, they simply reflect the current manic or depressed moods of market makers.
Stock traders are conventionally called bulls or bears according to the price movements resulting from their collective consciousness. Surely these long-serving animals have earned their retirement. Whatever beasts roamed stock exchange floors in the past, it is now clear that their territory has been completely taken over by sheep with bipolar disorder.”

Rowan Scotcake, South Freemantle, WA, letter to The Australian.
